We are blessed to be blessings
Jesus called us to LOVE one another, and to SERVE those in need. We encourage all those that call Hope Fellowship home to serve somewhere in their lives.
Serve Globally
Beyond our community here in Clarington, lies a world in need. In partnership with our denomination and other organizations, we help resource missionaries and global service projects through agencies like
Our Missionaries
John and Marian Vandermeer work in the Democratic Republic of Congo. John works for Wycliffe Bible Translators as a technical liaison. Translating the Word into tribal languages requires computer and internet capabilities. John has had to be very resourceful when trying to repair satellite dishes and other technological gadgets where there is no hardware store for hundreds of miles.
Our missionaries Gary and Galina Timmerman (Resonate Global Mission) manage church-based partnerships both in Russia and in Estonia. Since May 2021, they have made their base in Canada, allowing Gary to take on the additional strategic focus to work at nurturing more ethnic ministries around the CRC. With their long experience in serving among Russian-speakers, Gary and Galina are exploring ways for CRC churches to collaborate with immigrant communities in ways that welcome and embrace them, helping their faith communities to bring Christ’s love and peace to Canada’s newcomers.
We encourage our small group leaders and participants willing to “adopt a missionary” for a three or four month period, during which time your small group will encourage and pray regularly for one of the missionaries that we support. (This could mean sending letters, Birthday or Christmas cards or care packages to your missionary. It could mean e-mailing, or calling them on the phone.) Alternately if you are an individual or family wanting to “adopt a missionary” contact the church office.
Hope for Dominican
Hope for the Dominican, a group of people from Hope Fellowship who are called to be God’s hands and feet in the Dominican Republic, raising funds throughout the year to bless the Samaritan Foundation and the Sosua Pregnancy Resource Centre. Events include a Valentine’s Dance in February, Curling in March and a Softball Tournament in June.
Over the past five years Hope Fellowship has sent several short term mission teams to work in the Sosua area of the Dominican Republic to support agencies such as the Samaritan Foundation, Compassion Canada and the Pregnancy Resource Centre. God has been calling the people of Hope Fellowship to the Dominican Republic and we invite you to join our Hope for the Dominican Team. You can assist in our fundraising activities or planning and administration team or participate in our next short term mission trip.
Hope Without Borders
As an expression of the mission and vision of our church, Hope Without Borders sponsored twelve people of Syrian/Palestinian descent to Canada in 2016 as they escaped the destructive civil war in Syria. We continue to walk alongside them during their ongoing integration into life in Canada. The Hope Without Borders committee is currently raising funds to reunite the sponsored family members in Canada with parents and siblings who are in precarious living conditions outside of Syria. If you have questions about the work of the Hope Without Borders activities, or want to get involved, please contact the office and someone will put you in touch with a committee member.
